BOSTON — The trucking industry is poised for another big boost in funding, hiring and revenue growth as it seeks to boost its global presence and expand its footprint in the United States.
The U.S. National Trucking Association on Monday reported that the industry saw its first significant growth in 2019.
Trucking, an industry with a $6 trillion market worth more than $300 billion, has been a driver of growth in recent years.
It is also facing increasing competition from new vehicles and services such as Uber and Lyft.
TNA president Joe Walsh said in an email Monday that trucking is expected to be the biggest driver of job growth in the U.K., China and India.
He said the growth in U.N. and global trucking companies has pushed U.D.T. to see the importance of global freight and logistics to the U.
“With this growth, we are now able to deliver a more robust freight and logistical network across the U, which will be key to our growth in 2021,” Walsh said.
He also said that the sector has seen an increase in new jobs and the number of workers that can be employed with new trucking services like Amazon, Google and Tesla.
The U.R.E. and B.A.F. said in a statement that the two companies have agreed to share more details of their partnership plans for the future.
