The UK government has announced it is in talks with Australian authorities about a $1.7bn deal to build a mill house logistics hub in Perth, Australia.
The government is aiming to be the first Australian jurisdiction to build and operate a milling mill facility in Australia.
The deal is expected to be completed in the next two years and will be built out of the existing mill house facilities in Perth and Adelaide.
The deal will also include new mill house premises in Perth to meet the needs of a growing economy, with the bulk of the milling workforce expected to move to Perth.
The announcement comes just two months after the UK government unveiled a $3.1bn deal with Chinese firm Hubei Metallurgical Group for a new millhouse facility in the UK.
The UK will also have a new manufacturing hub in South Wales and a new steel mill in the South East.
The two countries will also develop joint ventures to build new mill houses in the future.
